legal assistant - property disputes yeovil salary d.o.e job description • liaising with and taking instructions from the head of property disputes, other senior managers or from solicitors within the legal team as may be required • assisting solicitors within the legal team with their caseload of property litigation and commercial disputes, and handling own caseload with appropriate supervision according to experience, dealing with all stages of disputes up to and including trial/hearing • liaising with external solicitors, managing agents and counsel were instructed • reading leases, deeds and other property title documents and miscellaneous documents, identifying key provisions and analysing title structures • dealing with legal queries and enquires referred by other members of staff • reporting to head of litigation (or other nominated supervisor) regarding work requirements, deadlines and expectations, and protecting the interests of the company at all times • legal research using online practice resources, in-house library or otherwise • obtaining and checking land registry documents and title deeds and leases and interpreting the same the successful applicant • law degree (2.1 or better) • 12 months+ experience, either within a law firm or in-house, of property litigation work (experience of non-contention property work or general dispute resolution may be considered) • high degree of integrity and reliability • proven ability to work under pressure and to deadlines, good organisation skills, and able to work within a team • computer literate: intermediate use of word and excel • numerate and an effective communicator in writing and orally
