the ivy house community pub is looking for a sous chef!
we are currently recruiting an enthusiastic, creative, and qualified chef to join our team.
we are looking for someone who has:
a minimum of one year pizza chef experience
outstanding communication skills and experience working with a head chef
experience leading the kitchen in head chef absence
experience supervising all food preparation and presentation to ensure quality and restaurant standards
strong leadership skills with the ability to provide guidance to junior kitchen staff members, including, but not limited to line cooking, food preparation and dish plating
ability to train new kitchen members to kitchen standards
experience overseeing and organising kitchen stock and ingredients
experience managing food and product ordering with the use of detailed records and the ability to work with existing systems to reduce wastage
strong understanding of first-in, first-out food rotation system and verification that all food products are properly dated and organised for quality assurance
experience keeping cooking stations stocked, especially before and during prime operation hours
exemplary health and safety standards and an ability to verify that food storage units all meet standards and are consistently well-managed in order to maintain our 5* food hygiene rating
in return we are offering up to £14.42 an hour depending on experience and the chance to work in london’s first community-owned pub. full-time, permanent position.

the ivy house was founded in 2013 after the building was saved by residents and locals from impending residential demolishment.
since then we have become a thriving, inclusive, events-led pub that is home for a range of entertainment including a pub quiz, live music, comedy, cabaret and theatre as well as hosting an array of community events like yoga and children’s groups. we celebrate our diversity and are proud to be a pub run by the community for the community.
