Emergency live in carer / personal assistant. disability support work - united kingdom, ashford, kent

hello,

i am a friendly and caring 38 year old woman who lives in ashford kent. i have cerebral palsy and am a wheelchair user. i also live with a cockatiel bird so you must not be scared of birds! please read below to see if my pa job opportunities might suit you. thanks :)

i am currently looking for a few people to become a regular staff team ideally one or two week blocks regularly. if we get on well this could become longer periods.

i am looking for a friendly, kind, caring, flexible woman who speaks fluent english who must drive and be over 25, for live-in carer (pa) to begin asap. we are currently looking for an array of potential different work situations but shifts of 5 days seem to work best for me and my existing team as the job is tiring. this can be flexible.

*****as well as the job ad below i need emergency cover from 11am tuesday 20th sept (shadow training shift with outgoing staff member), starting alone 11am wed 21st for 3days, finishing 11am on saturday 24th sept******

rate of pay currently works out at about £228 per day on paye, half rate for training day. this high rate reflects the long hours of the job. breaks and sleep time are not structured, you are on call in the night in case i need the bathroom.

role description:

this is a personal assistant role starting asap with a trial shifts beforehand needed.

i am an electric wheelchair user with cereal palsy, this role requires using hoist equipment to move between bed, chair, shower and toilet. experience with hoist equipment would be really helpful but not totally essential as we can go through it all. i am patient and able to verbally train new folks in the specific needs of my care, but general familiarity with care work roles needed.

i ask new people to come for a training shift for one or two days at half rate with one of my longer terms staff members to support the training before a first shift.

must be female bodied and able for the physical work, rolling for changing and pushing wheelchairs. experience doing support/care work would be great.

must have a driving license. does involve personal care, assisting with showering and dressing etc...

i am very easy to get along with and have an open mind, enjoying diversity of experience in the people i meet and the things i do so someone of a similar nature would be a good match. must like birds, as i have a cockatiel who sits (and occasionally poops) on your shoulder in the mornings as we do the shower routine. he prefers a calm environment. i like home cooking, the role does involve cooking meat but i am susceptible to tasty vegetarian suggestions.

i tend to be quite busy so the role can be demanding and have, on some days, irregular or long hours, other days are more chill.

some of the things i tend to be quite busy with are my church community and study. it's my strong preference to have pas that actively support me in both these areas. my church is quite vibrant and laid back and some of my pas that have enjoyed this aspect of my life the most have been non-christian, so being "into church" is not a requirement at all, just having an open mind.

i am studying counselling degree course in farnham (which is a bit of a drive), though i am in a placement year which means i don't have to be there regularly. my placement work is in bournemouth so, when these clients start, attending there will be a long day with a good bit of driving. in general i require active support to get through the required admin to stay on top of my schedule for my placement and studies.

get in touch with any questions.

thankyou!
