scimed is a leading distributor of scientific equipment with a customer base across the uk and ireland. as part of our continued growth, we are recruiting a new national product manager to look after the product range from gamry instruments which offers a full range of potentiostats and galvanostats. the role will be based at our stockport facility.
as part of the role, travel to customers throughout the uk and ireland will be required as well as occasional trips abroad for product training at manufacturer’s locations (mainly in the usa).
it would be beneficial for the successful candidate to have electrochemistry experience or in a similar field.
the role:
the product manager’s primary responsibility is to perform direct sales activities in a defined territory in the uk with a view to growing the company’s revenue and market share.
the secondary responsibility is to look after the existing user base and address all support enquiries with the support of the existing product manager.
the role reports into the sales director.
specific tasks
prepare and maintain a territory plan, which will guide their territory sales activities. the territory plan will identify and characterize key customers and key target accounts and itemize and quantify activities necessary to achieve and exceed sales targets
prospect and “hunt” in the region to meet, achieve and exceed target through structured visit/call plan
develop and maintain appropriate knowledge of all gamry products, business strategies, sales tools, and pricing policies, as they relate to their territory
develop and maintain an appropriate knowledge of the business needs of her/his customers and how gamry products address those needs
carry out product demonstration and attend events such as workshops, roadshows, and conferences
maintain thorough and accurate records of all activities in the company’s crm database
manage opportunities within the company’s crm database to allow timely and accurate sales forecasts
maintain strong and positive customer relationships, which will ensure gamry’s long-term success
contribute to gamry’s knowledge and awareness of market segment and competitive trends and issues
support colleagues within the office, sales, and marketing teams as and when required
maintain product and competitor knowledge
experience & qualifications
role requirements:
educated to degree level (or equivalent) as a minimum, with emphasis on chemistry or other physical sciences.
excellent communication skills, both oral and written
excellent organizational skills with the ability to multi-task and work to tight deadlines
able to demonstrate strong negotiation skills
enthusiastic team player
comfortable and confident in client-facing scenarios
full uk driving licence
willingness to travel within territory at the level necessary to excel in the role
travel to other areas such as usa (gamry base)
stay overnight where required
accept additional responsibilities as the role and experience grows
desirable skills/knowledge:
experience of using crm’s.
knowledge of electrochemistry instrumentation.
field sales experience in the life science, pharmaceutical, chemical process or academic markets in the uk.
a scientist driven for a move into a commercial role may be considered.
hours
this is a full time role, monday to friday.
location
to be considered for this role you must be based in a commutable area to the scimed headquarters in stockport.
remuneration
salary based on experience. basic salary range £35k - £50k pa. + up to £20k ote
company car or allowance for private car ownership. fuel for company mileage is reimbursed.
