material planner - cottondale, al, $50-60k plus bonus - direct hire - onsite

must have:

  • proficient with sap and erp systems

  • objective of the position:
     

    assure a 100% delivery performance of products to the customer by transferring customer demands into supplier demands, taking into consideration the desired inventory level at the cottondale facility and the material in transit from the supplier to cottondale, as well as lead times for supplier delivery.

     

    duties in detail:

     

  • daily review and manage any change requests from customers and suppliers; appropriately change sales scheduling agreements when necessary.
  • inform the appropriate individuals (area manager, plant manager) of any issues related to the material availability that would cause shortages to the customer.
  • attend all assigned production meetings; give up-to-date status on supply to the customer.
  • analyze all customer electronic releases within 48 hours of receipt and work with supplier production to ensure 100% on time delivery to atlanta.
  • act daily as customer liaison; communicate with customers immediately regarding inquiries, orders and shipments, shortages, capacity constraints; maintain up-to-date customer files and contact lists.
  • perform monthly review and maintenance of all master data related to planning (e.g. safety stock, lead times, lot sizes, etc.) that has been deemed appropriate by the management team.
  • review data integrity, investigation and resolution of discrepancies including: bill of material, item master data and part set up and validation.
  • set up customer scheduling agreements when new parts or revision changes occur.
  • daily analysis and accurate clearing of any errors or warnings from customer edi transmission, i.e. back flush errors, information documents that cannot process systematically, and invoices that cannot pass through the system to the accounting area due to errors.
  • coordinate daily with external vendors to obtain product or service information such as availability and delivery schedule issues that may interrupt on-time delivery.
  • daily review and update of mrp reports with the ability to understand stock shortages, material variances, and customer order shortages.
  • daily review and update of daily operations reports with the ability to explain shipments for the day prior, any potential stock shortages, material variances, reasons for premium freight, and special shipments to be made during the week.
  • monitor reports and communicate with management to insure production and shipping schedules are maintained.
  • daily analysis of inventory levels and customer requirements to establish forecasts for new and replenishment orders, and to optimize inventory levels.
  • plan and control appropriate levels of inventory as defined by factors on a weekly basis.
  • track performance and provide a weekly analysis of actual inventory versus target inventory.
  • perform a daily evaluation of finished materials and component levels to ensure enough supply is available to meet customer production demands.
  • on a weekly basis identify, develop and plan inventory reductions for components and finished goods. 
  • help lead 5s activities across the warehouse.
  • ensure cycle counts and inventory are up-to-date and reflected in sap system. evaluate and report significant inventory variances, identify root cause and corrective action for inventory discrepancies.
  • track and explain in detail premium freights that are and non- related, ensuring than they are properly logged and approved on the premium freight website.
  • monitor and ensure planning strategy and goals are executed. lead and provide support on the disposition of slow moving and obsolete materials. ensure vendor returns are processed on time. analyze data to provide root cause analysis and report on key performance metrics.
  • monitor and plan new material items as assigned. ensure purchase orders are released, and item attribute data is entered accurately in erp system.

  •  

    technical requirements:

  • one-year experience with mrp system. must possess some knowledge of mrp concepts and erp system functionality.
  • ability to navigate sap or similar erp systems to check incoming releases, process through or enter manually.
  • ability to spot and define moving average for customer demand and make proposals based on interpretation of data.
  • ability to maintain excel spreadsheets with data on daily shipments, release quantity, and defined jit information.
  • experience using forecasting techniques and analysis.
  • knowledge of microsoft excel and aptitude to learn technical applications.
  • possess analytical skills with the ability to utilize data to solve issues or improve processes.
  • ability to track and trace shipments (regular freight, premium freight, etc.).
  • proficient in microsoft office software (excel, word, outlook).
  • understanding of all policies and procedures relative to forecasting, planning, and inventory control.
  • experience in sap-mm module for inventory tracking, in-transit materials, demand planning and forecasting.
