live-in domestic help / housekeeper required in family house about 3 miles outside east grinstead. a lovely english family of 7 children (16 to 25 years old), four at university, one at boarding school and two working in london.
mum is at home, not working, and therefore the role is full time in support of running the house. mum does the driving, shopping, etc.
main duties include:
- house cleaning
- laundry and ironing
- helping in the kitchen with meals and cleaning up
- help with dog walking (lovely dogs)
- looking after house and dogs when mum and dad away (occasional).
the ideal person would be energetic, flexible, reliable and multi talented. a competent cook is desirable, but not mandatory. the family has lived in asian and abroad for many years and love asian/indian/middle east cuisine.
the family have had many long-term live in nannies and housekeepers over the past years and understand the importance of balance in the work/life relationship with a full time employee. the relationships have always been supportive and all their help have felt "part of the family".
accommodation: in an annex studio room/bedroom (large) with private bathroom and separate outside entrance -- but also connected internally to the house. light meal prep in annex, but access to main kitchen as well. furnished, and with a tv. electricity, heating, good wifi, etc. all included at no cost. no bills other than own food. sorry, but no couples.
days of work are tuesday to saturday, inclusive. however some flexibility on both parts will be required and requested to adjust a day here or there on occasion. also, possibility for shorter days over five and half days.
a car is not required, but helpful. east grinstead has very good transport services to london and elsewhere.
location: beautiful location with far reaching views to the south. large peaceful and tranquil grounds, yet only a few minutes drive from east grinstead. the family employ a full-time live-out gardener/grounds keeper.
good salary available for the right person.
