summary:

my 95 year old mum is a gujarati lady who is kind and gentle, and family is important to her. we are a close family and my mum is centre to this.

this role is for a part time gujarati speaking home care assistant to provide daily support to my mum with some household chores, food prep and assistance with medication.

we need an assistant who can speak gujarati so you can communicate with my mum and someone who is familiar with cooking indian food would be ideal.

our property is located close to norbury train station, is well accessed by public transport.

other requirements

• other : able to speak gujarati

all applicants must be willing to undertake an enhanced disclosure & barring service check if required.

successful applicants will be entitled to holiday pay and will be issued employment contracts.

description - typical duties

domestic:

helping with laundry – un/loading washing machine/tumble dryer/washing line

changing bed linen

bed making

general cleaning and housework, including cleaning, dusting and vacuuming.

taking out rubbish

preparing/cooking gujarati meals, snacks and drinks.

shopping

making phone calls on my mums’ behalf if too unwell to do this

personal care:

assistance with medication - helping to take tablets from foil/packets

mealtimes - cutting up food, assistance to eat as needed or supervise eating and drinking

on occasion assistance with washing/bathing/showering – towelling dry/drying hair

general hair/skin care

social:

some light shopping for essentials

whilst on duty at the employer’s home watching tv and assisting with craft activities

communicating and talking with mum while carrying out duties

the successful applicant will be:

able to speak gujarati

some knowledge of indian cooking

respectful of the employer’s privacy and confidentiality

reliable with good timekeeping

able to both follow instructions and work on own initiative

hygienic, tidy minded and well organised

fit and healthy to undertake the required duties

patience and possess excellent interpersonal skills

legally permitted to work in the united kingdom

able to work at all times to high standards of health & safety

previous experience preferred but this is not as essential as a kind and common-sense approach to these roles.
