summary

• i am a sociable and chatty gentleman, looking for a support worker to cover my live in carer’s breaks.

• the role will involve domestic tasks, personal care and assisting me to get out and about and walk my dog.

other requirements

• must be comfortable with pets

• must be happy to work in a smoking environment – door is always open to air

• other :

all applicants must be willing to undertake an enhanced disclosure & barring service check if required.

successful applicants will be entitled to holiday pay and will be issued employment contracts.

typical duties

domestic:

laundry, hanging out to dry, ironing, putting away

taking out rubbish.

preparing drinks, snacks and meals and clearing up afterwards.

tidying

occasionally writing emails/letters on my behalf

occasionally accessing the internet

any other reasonable task

personal care:

minimal catheter care

dressing and undressing/ helping with buttons and fastenings

helping with other aspects of personal care as required,

getting in and out of the wheelchair ('transferring'). this will be minimal

mealtimes e.g. cutting up food, assistance to eat

any other reasonable task

social:

watching tv and listening to music whilst on duty at the employer’s home

assisting me to walk my assistance dog

the successful applicant will be:

able to tolerate the employer smoking in the workplace

respectful of the employer’s privacy and confidentiality

reliable with good timekeeping

able to both follow instructions and work on own initiative

hygienic, tidy minded and well organised

fit and healthy to undertake the required duties

patience and possess excellent interpersonal skills

legally permitted to work in the united kingdom

able to work at all times to high standards of health & safety

previous experience preferred but this is not as essential as a kind and common sense approach to these roles.
