the field service technician will maintain, repair, certify, and install x-ray fluorescence (xrf) equipment, hardness (nanoindentation) and line of tactile test methods.
major duties and responsibilities:
perform complex analyses and diagnostics on x-ray, mechanical testing, automation systems.
inspect, evaluate, and troubleshoot instruments during commissioning and repair.
identify and communicate any irregularities that could affect the quality, safety, or performance of instruments.
test and repair x-ray equipment and other instruments.
perform iso 17025 certifications.
perform on-site instrument calibrations.
interface directly with customers to provide telephone, email, and face-to-face product support.
identify potential sales opportunities for products.
perform paperwork and sap reporting as required by the service department.
follow safety protocols for mechanical and radiation protection.
travel approximately 95%, by car or air, to customer locations for installation and repair as needed. may vary based on technician’s stationed location.
perform other duties as requested by the service manager.
education and experience:
associates degree in electronics, 2-year technician school certificate, or bs degree.
a minimum of 5 years work experience troubleshooting electronic equipment.
experience with laboratory measurement systems and/or medical diagnostic equipment.
special skills and requirements:
capable of independent troubleshooting and system diagnostics with schematics and mechanical diagrams.
familiar with electronic diagnostic test methods and equipment including oscilloscopes, millimeters, etc.
ability to work with specialized hand tools, soldering equipment, etc.
ability to understand product specifications, iso requirements, and customer applications.
professional communication skills.
computer hardware and software skills.
mechanical aptitude is essential.
ability to travel, including overnights and international.
able to lift 50 pounds.
clean driving record.
u.s. citizenship is required. dual us and canadian citizenship highly desirable.
full vaccination against covid-19.
