the company is seeking a highly skilled and competent senior designer based at their manufacturing site in lydney, gloucestershire. the product range includes modular/temporary accommodation and modular buildings.

lydney is within easy commutable distance from gloucester, cheltenham, bristol and south wales.

competitive package:

£45k to £48k, pension, life insurance, 25 days holiday (plus bank holidays).

role overview

reporting to the technical manager you will be responsible for designing steel frame portable and modular buildings. duties will include new products/components and value engineering existing product. you will also maintain issued technical data in compliance with our quality accreditation as well as act as a mentor junior member of the design team. currently the design team consists of five members so is small enough for you to make a visible difference.

author 3d revit families & project models ensuring compliance with level of detail and level of information requirements. generate 2d drawings from the 3d model – applying view templates and annotation as required by manufacturing/construction standards. assist in the creation of project templates to ensure a uniform approach to the production of drawing sheet sets. mentor junior members of the design team with design for manufacture processes, produce & maintain manufacturing quantification schedules, using shared parameters generated within revit in accordance with company standards. prepare costed schedules and issue to the company’s erp software (sap). ensure integrity of design & production data is maintained. lead design reviews with all stake holders including department heads and customers. identify and lead value engineering projects, advising on alternative methods of manufacture prepare information packs for 3rd party contractors such as structural & m&e engineers. assist the technical manager in meeting the technical teams kpi’s

about you:

you will be able to demonstrate the following:

essential

at least 5 years’ experience in 3d modelling, ideally revit, inventor or similar 3d software. experience in 3d construction modelling. multi-tasking skills – ability to work on multiple projects. time management and organisational skills - ability work to tight deadlines

desirable

previous experience working in the modular and portable building industry. understanding of design thinking methodologies. an understanding of structural calculations experience in electrical & plumbing layouts and schematics experience in offsite construction techniques.

qualifications

onc / hnc / hnd / degree in building studies, mechanical engineering or suitable equivalent will be considered. other engineering qualifications will be considered such as technical apprenticeships
