the core responsibilities of this role are to:

work as part of our senior leadership team to drive the academy forward positively.

develop and lead best practice of send provision and intervention in the primary phase working with the sendco and primary lsas.

ensure the effectiveness of provision for other vulnerable learners such as pp and eal.

ensure effective teaching and learning strategies and interventions enable send pupils to achieve well and have high aspirations for what they can achieve.

be responsible for day-to-day operation of the send policy and co-ordination of specific provision to support individual pupils with sen or a disability in the primary phase.

fulfil the professional responsibilities of a teacher, as set out in the school teachers' pay and conditions document.

job description

at dslv we are looking for our assistant head teacher to:

actively contribute to the leadership of the primary phase as part of the slt.

lead primary lsas and work directly with senior leaders to ensure that the planning and teaching for

send pupils are effectively meeting their needs.

participate actively in the development and implementation of whole school policy.

maintain an overview of provision for send pupils in primary and lead on the monitoring and evaluation of its quality and impact, recording in the provision map.

supporting the curriculum planning.

work with the sendco to ensure the sen register for the whole academy is accurate and up to date.

deputise for the sendco when she/he is absent or unavailable.

be a key point of contact for parents and external agencies in relation to the needs of primary pupils.

work closely with teachers to ensure pupil passports are clear, have measurable and aspirational targets matched to the identified need and are implemented.

provide guidance to staff on appropriate teaching and learning methods to meet the needs of identified pupils.

provide guidance to colleagues on teaching pupils with send and advise on the graduated approach to sen support.

analyse assessment data for all vulnerable pupil groups and use this to inform the development of our provision.

keep detailed records of the progress of pupils receiving learning support including writing and reviewing passports, ehcps and annual reviews.

adhere to the send code of practice (2015) and support academy staff in understanding their responsibilities within this statutory guidance.

coach and develop staff on effective learning strategies and deliver cpd training as needed.

supervise identified pupils during breaks and lunchtimes where needed.

fully support and at all times uphold the policies and positive ethos of the academy and the e-act
