about this client: elizabeth is a charismatic and intellectual older lady with a taste for the finer things in life. she has an amazing sense of humour and enjoys spending time with her family and friends. elizabeth loves music, visiting national trust parks and gardens, going shopping, to the theatre and eating out at nice restaurants. she also likes watching sport on tv and eating good, healthy, home-cooked food. slimming world and the treadmill have assisted elizabeth in her goal to stay fit and lose weight, which she is doing amazingly well at! elizabeth had an acquired brian injury (abi) in 2000 and has complex cognitive and mental health issues, such as extreme anxiety, somatoform disorder, and splitting behaviours (seeing things only as black or white, right or wrong etc.).

overview of role: elizabeth’s home care team, support her 24/7 and one more person is needed to complete her team. you’ll support her daily routine to help and prompt her to live as independently as possible. staying motivated, flexible, and positive is an essential part of your role; at times elizabeth can feel anxious and be reluctant to participate in the day’s activities. as elizabeth’s support worker you will assist her with preparing home cooked healthy meals, facilitating and being a companion on outings, shopping, and appointments, assisting with physiotherapy and keeping elizabeth’s home clean and tidy. you’ll support elizabeth throughout one 24-hour shift per week, 8.00am – 8.00am, this includes a sleeping shift from 11.00pm to 7.00am). the new support worker can choose one set 24-hour shift per week on any of the following days: monday, tuesday, wednesday, thursday, or sunday. £268.00 weekday, £316.00 weekends gross per 24 hours shift.

who this job would suit: this role would suit a confident, *female support worker with a great sense of humour, someone who is confident, and highly motivated. you’ll enjoy banter with elizabeth and know not to take some comments personally. you will need your own transport to get to the client’s home, but she has her own car for you to drive on shift.

what’s great about this job: as well as never being short of laughter, support staff enjoy many activities and outings with elizabeth. this is a lovely opportunity for an upbeat, compassionate support worker to work with a humorous lady full of personality. training is provided including understanding abi, epilepsy, and key care skills. you’ll have support from a case manager and joining a well-established team. within elizabeth’s lovely bungalow, a bedroom and bathroom are provided for staff on sleeping night shifts.
