about the sheq manager role:

reporting to the operations manager the purpose of this role is to support and advise the business on all aspects with regards to health and safety, quality and environment.

you will be monitoring, sustaining and proactively improving standards, processes, communications, training and systems to ensure all responsibilities associated with health and safety, quality and environment in collaboration with the local management and work force.

some of your duties will be to:

develop, maintain and administer effective occupational health, safety, ergonomics and industrial hygiene programs, including health services functions and maintenance of related policy and procedures.
ensure the site meets its statutory compliance, environmental and waste management obligations in all areas pertaining to health, safety and welfare at work, including statutory training and reporting.
ensure full and accurate health and safety and training records are maintained
sustain and drive improvements to adhere to iso 9001, iso 14001 and iso 45001 accreditations
establish a full programme of documented health & safety inspections, audits and checks
engage and collaborate with local management and workforce to ensure a safe workplace environment without risk to health
lead safety and quality initiatives across all areas of the business, including production by being a daily presence on the shop floor and attending weekly production cell sqdcp meetings
root-cause and countermeasure any health and safety and quality issues
ensure that all accidents are documented, investigated and recommended improvements implemented
ensure that safety inspections are carried out, fire drills and fire alarms are correctly reported, safety inspections, risk assessments and lone working procedures are managed, and employees are aware of their responsibilities
co-ordinate the development and implementation of health & safety policies, systems of work and procedures
manage and develop customer complaints process

to be considered for this role you must have at least 5 years’ experience in a similar role

broad working knowledge of regional and local ehs compliance and regulatory requirements as they relate to the manufacturing and facility operations.
strong technical writing skills
ability to effectively and professionally communicate to all levels of the organization.
ability to influence change and ability to pivot quickly in a complex and consistently adaptive environment
previous experience in environmental and/or safety at a manufacturing setting
a proactive, driven individual with excellent listening skills

technical skills required:

experience of formulating, implementing and revising h&s policies and procedures
provision of advice to managers/supervisors
handling of ehs investigations
experienced and competent in lean techniques such as 8d, rccm, 5 whys
experience of dealing with quality issues/non-conformances
iosh training (managing safely)
iso 9001, 14001, and 45001 standards and requirements
understanding of qms
strong it skills
