a wealth management company in the heart of birmingham is looking for a data manager to join them on a permanent basis. your responsibility as data manager will be to oversee, monitor and manage the company's data; to maintain integrity, security; and to increase productivity through access, management information and reporting. you will be required to work to tight timescales so must be able to work efficiently and under pressure to produce consistently excellent results in data management, reporting and analysis. reporting will be done using a variety of tools, which include: sql, vba, access and excel. the databases and related systems will be under continuous review to provide efficiency gains to internal teams as well as respond to client requirements. key duties you will be responsible for a function of the operations department, managing a small specialised team of database developers, data analysts and data administrators. the function is responsible for:- managing the storage and organisation of data on the firm's network managing the firm's information security, including data protection in conjunction with the it department providing mi and reports and providing access to appropriate data managing data used for website and application content resolving queries and maintaining existing databases, as well as building new systems to provide reports and business analysis a significant part of the team's role will include the daily reconciliation of data. this involves: sourcing, entering and checking missing data assessing whether significant changes are justified flagging issues for review identifying and reporting recurring issues verifying that data is complete additional duties will involve: preparing and verifying data for submission to the regulator providing submissions and maintaining relationships with external data vendors working with other departments as part of company wide projects contribute to testing programme for in-house systems preparing ad-hoc data requests skills problem solving skills strong working knowledge of relational databases and sql writing experience highly proficient in ms office suite - excel, word, powerpoint including vba excellent written and oral communication skills ability to translate complex problems clearly and in non-technical terms managing team's workload experience team management position employee development/mentoring business analysis we are looking for someone that can work with the individuals in the business, that have little or no technical experience, to develop or build data solutions from our data systems for reporting or productivity gains. the role will also involve working to develop technical specifications for the development team for application and database build. they must also be able to develop a team of analysts to contribute towards these goals. expected package basic salary gbp50,000.00 - gbp65,000.00 following a 6 month probation period you will qualify for: - company bonuses personal pension contribution death in service benefit private healthcare income protection in our company values we aim for equity at all stages of the recruitment process, please let us know if we can do anything to make the process more accessible to you
