they currently have an exciting opportunity for a multi skilled engineer (weekends) to play a key part in supporting the operations teams to deliver consistently high quality products to their customers, whilst improving operational effectiveness.

working as part of the weekend engineering team, this role will report directly to the weekend engineering supervisor and be responsible for supporting them in running delegated aspects of the site’s engineering plans.

the role & key responsibilities

working within a complex engineering environment our multi skilled engineers are responsible for providing a responsive engineering service to the operations team to ensure that high levels of machine availability, efficiency, reliability, safety and quality standards are achieved, and improved upon. they will be responsible for providing effective and long term solutions to continuously improve machine reliability. the role will involve working within the sites during shut downs, carrying out repairs, scheduled part replacement, improvement projects and preventative maintenance as well as supporting productive running hours in line with business needs.

other key elements of the role involve:

identification and recovery of fault situations on all processing equipment and ancillary devices.monitoring and adjusting equipment and process conditions to ensure that 'right first time' quality is achieved.maximising equipment utilisation by carrying out effective preventative maintenance procedures, timely calibrations, routine safety checks on all processing equipment.promoting an environment of continuous improvement at all times and assisting in process improvement projects.contributing to and assisting in development of the pm systems.installation and commissioning of new equipment.

this role will work weekends and 2 additional weekday shifts. a reasonable level of overtime and flexibility is also needed to cover the business needs. you must be able to work by yourself, as well as part of a team and to make decisions which will have a direct impact on operational performance.

the ideal candidate will need to be multi-skilled with an electrical engineering bias, from a manufacturing industry/fmcg background with experience of carrying out pm activities, plus repairing and replacing large mechanical components where required.

applicants must have a strong commitment to workplace health and safety and safety improvement. candidates must be enthusiastic and able to work accurately, in a timely manner, and have good communication skills.

qualifications & experience

applicants must be apprenticeship trained/hnc qualified in electrical engineering. bs7671 qualification would be useful. both mechanical and electrical knowledge and experience in a manufacturing environment is expected.

the following skills are also required:

excellent ability to fault find to i/o level on plcs (siemens s5, s7 and allen bradley).fault finding on ac & dc drives; siemens, abb, ssd, control techniques, lenze, etc.understanding and experience of hydraulic systems.understanding and experience of pneumatic systems.experience of steam systems and boilers.experience of mechanical drive systems (power transmission).general mechanical repairs.fabrication/welding experience.knowledge of lifting/slinging.flt experience.
