i have a fantastic client in chicago loop in search of a practice development manager. the practice development manager is responsible for managing client development programs for several corporate areas and the litigation practice group to be assigned by the chief marketing officer. the practice development manager wears many hats and is responsible for staying on top of present and emerging trends in specific client industries, creating and implementing multi-faceted strategies to raise the profiles of the practices and attorneys, as well as collaborating with attorneys on business development plans. significant responsibility & autonomy will be afforded to candidates who demonstrate independent judgment, strategic and diplomatic thinking and the ability to function effectively at several levels.

the practice development manager may also provide daily oversight of the practice development coordinators (individual assignments vary), ensuring the timely completion of marketing-related activities. the practice development manager analyzes and resolves work issues daily under the supervision of the senior marketing and practice development manager. in this supervisory role, the practice development manager is accountable for the work and actions of the coordinators they oversee.

as the practice development manager, your duties will include but not be limited to:

  • identify opportunities for branding and exposure opportunities through events, seminars, sponsorships, and conferences, and measure the return on investment.
  • develop and maintain practice and industry experience and identify cross selling opportunities
  • coordinate, manage and write practice submissions for industry or practice area awards and directories
  • lead pitch and rfps responses for the practice areas assigned
  • leverage the firm’s resources to serve internal clients, this includes our competitive intelligence and communications department
  • monitor industry organizations for upcoming events, identifying potential speaking and sponsorship opportunities.
  • provide back-up as needed to fellow members of the business development and marketing team.
  • manages marketing coordinator(s); monitors work quality and workload, provides direction and training, and assists in career development.

  •  qualification and required experience:

  • bachelor’s degree in marketing required
  • minimum 6 to 10 years of experience in a marketing/communications function within professional services required; law firm experience preferred
  • computer skills:

    to perform this job successfully, an individual must be proficient in the following software:

  • proficiency with microsoft office, adobe acrobat, familiarity with project management tools, document management software, customer relationship management (crm) software and ability to adapt to new software programs.
