Reliability engineer - united kingdom, sheffield, south yorkshire

our client is a rapidly expanding green energy company based near sheffield. due to expansion; they have a requirement for a reliability engineer to join the team on permanent contract. the role of the reliability engineer will be to join the value engineering design team. the role will report directly to the lead product design engineer. responsibilities lead problem resolution activities on equipment failures in the field and present the findings to a wide audience conduct preliminary hazards analysis and dfmea studies on new system designs support process and mechanical equipment specification from a reliability and maintainability perspective where required attend design reviews to assess the maintainability of new design concepts conduct equipment comparisons and final selection based on quality, technical and commercial considerations assist with the review of equipment performance data in the field and assess requirements for maintenance, replacement or upgrade help to train and develop the wider design team on all aspects of reliability and maintainability engineering create or interpret data and information to be able to construct both quantitative and qualitative reliability models ensure lessons learned from delivered projects are implemented into engineering standards understand and communicate estimated lifetime costs of plant and equipment identify & verify that any improvements that have been implemented achieve the desired reliability improvement. knowledge and experience educated to degree level or equivalent, preferably in mechanical engineering with 5+ years experience within a relevant role/industry ability to understand, interpret and produce engineering documentation i.e., p&id s, pfd s, engineering drawings, performance graphs, datasheets, specifications experienced in the use or reliability block diagrams and other reliability modelling techniques excellent report writing and presentation skills to convey technical information to a variety of audiences understanding of material selection for industrial applications ability to evaluate parts and processes for cost, efficiency and reliability improvements capable of critical thinking with solid decision-making skills strong time management skills, including prioritisation management proficient with microsoft suite of products, particularly excel statistical analysis and capability calculations achieved or working toward chartered (ceng) status with relevant industry body capable user of 3d cad software, ideally solidworks familiarity with a manufacturing environment including boms and mrp knowledge of engineering systems and processes i.e., change notes, ncr s etc awareness of atex directives, pressure equipment directive (ped) and machinery directive
