a unique and exciting opportunity has arisen for to provide support for a young man of sixteen, living in the canterbury area.

our client is seeking an energetic, fun and patient individual to support him to access leisure and sporting activities.

due to some learning difficulties and impaired balance and co-ordination, he needs support accessing the community and his various leisure pursuits safely. he may require occasional support and prompts with personal care and reassurance /guidance when on uneven ground.

this young man has a great sense of humour and is looking for a personal assistant who can help him participate physical activities such as playing football, golf, pool, bowling and going on his trike. he also enjoys playing on his wii and gaming. it would be advantageous for the successful candidate to have technology and gaming skills to help him access this interest safely.

the role will include developing his independent living skills such as household chores, shopping for ingredients and cooking simple meals, with support.

the pa will also work to implement any therapy programmes such as physio or occupational therapy into a range of fun and purposeful activities.

this role would suit a kind and warm individual with initiative and a genuine interest in assisting this young man to undertake a range of sporting and outdoor activities to optimise his quality of life, health and wellbeing.

(a risk assessment and support plan will provide a framework for the successful candidate to work within).

working hours: 10-12 hours per week

our client seeks someone who is well organised and flexible.

rates of pay £16.00 per hour monday to friday, £18.00 per hour saturday and sunday

an nvq level 2 in health and social care or equivalent is desirable. otherwise, the applicant must be willing to undertake care certificate training.

all posts are subject to an enhanced dbs disclosure with child workforce barring. full training will be provided. a full driving licence is essential.
