family description and location

an informal british family is looking for an experienced but friendly couple to come and join the team their large country estate. this estate has one family who use the estate as their permanent residence and there are other houses on site that are used by other members of the family as a weekend residences and also guest accommodation.

there are 3 daily housekeepers and 2 daily gardeners that also work on the estate. (the two garden ) and 1 maintenance person. the position is based on kidlington in oxfordshire. they are looking for a friendly couple with a great work ethic to become part of our fun and friendly team. the two roles are predominately gardening for one and housekeeping for the other, but we would like a flexible couple who are happy to lend a hand where needed.

job description

full-time gardening and grounds with occasional maintenance, security, driving, cleaning when required.

grass cutting, strimming, weeding and leaf clearance
maintenance of the grounds and gardens including pruning, planting, hedge cutting, weeding. responsible for vegetable garden.
maintaining and arranging servicing of garden machinery occasional visits to london property (maybe once or twice a year not overnight)
driving and running errands
cleaning cars
swimming pool maintenance
assisting family as required and looking after family dog when needed

housekeeping and cleaning of all properties at to a high standard. some occasional childcare and cooking when required

cleaning all rooms in each property on the estate
spring cleaning
washing and ironing
making and changing beds
cooking on an ad-hoc basis (very basic family style food such as cottage pie, lasagne etc no serving at table but just left on the stove etc.
childcare on an ad-hoc basis
running errands
basic sewing (not essential)
looking after family dog if required

candidate requirements

one of you will be an experienced gardener. someone used to, or happy with, a varied and flexible role and have knowledge of gardening, horticulture, and vegetable garden. hedge trimming and pruning. basic knowledge of maintaining garden equipment and general maintenance. dealing with minor electrical and plumbing issues and contacting tradespeople as required. driving licence is required. must be extremely flexible, a good team player and happy with a varied ever-changing role.

the other will be an experienced housekeeper who enjoys working to a high standard and happy to work in a busy household and as part of a friendly team. animal lover with some basic childcare/babysitting experience and basic cookery experience. good communication skills and being able to drive would be an advantage.

days of work, accommodation and salary

full-time live-in – 45 hours per week including weekends

thursday to monday with tuesday and wednesday off.

the normal working week is 37.5 hours but contracted for up to 45 hours per week in case of any out of working hours deliveries etc.

there is a lovely detached 3-bed, 2-bathroom house with a patio garden included with all bills. (dependants and pets considered on a case by case basis)

the salary is £60k per annum and a great benefits package which includes:
