  • job description:
  • responsible to pack material, operate forklift or other vehicles, train to move materials, supplies and finished goods to designated places in the facility or onto/off-of truck trailers

     

    vehicle operator purpose of position

     

     

    the main missions of the role are:

     

  • pull, load, pack and move materials, supplies and finished goods to assigned area(s)
  • follow escalation procedure for any discrepancy (i.e. low-level components, truck preparation area (tpa) parts shortage)
  • check for required part identification to ensure proper load is pulled/moved
  • stack skids, pallets, baskets and barricades in designated area(s)
  • clean and dispose of scrap cardboard, strapping and tags in proper containers or area
  • deliver containers by use of physical kanban
  • empty all scrap hoppers as needed and always at end of shift
  • take empty baskets and more outside as well as break-down all pipe racks and take outside
  • keep aisle-ways clear of clutter at all times
  • perform required operation and safety checks prior to signing out assigned forklift / train – complete safety checklist at beginning of shift and follow all forklift/train safety rules at all times
  • notify gap leader and/or supervisor when problem occurs
  • pack parts into designated container and record information in line with labeling and/or packing instructions
  • identify finished parts with traveler tags as required; put old traveler tags away as soon as possible
  • complete all required paperwork on a daily basis
  • maintain clean and safe working environment in line with company policy; including but not limited to sweeping dock area and other areas of the plant as needed
  • adhere to all work rules and procedures
  •  

    additional responsibilities include:

  • maintain appearance of lines and area by conducting 5s
  • implement two (2) improvement ideas per month
  • other duties as requested

  • must be 18 years of age
  • must have received high school diploma or equivalent (g.e.d.)
  • satisfactory company work records, including attendance and disciplinary record
  • able to communicate effectively and accurately with all levels of management and co-workers in spoken and written language.
  • successful completion of companies training program
  • demonstrate the ability to perform to quality standard and production pace
  • strong ability to organize while being sensitive to time constraints and resource availability

  • job involves lifting and carrying up to 25 pounds, exerts 25 to 100 pounds of force occasionally and exerts 10 to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects

  • able and willing to work overtime when required – up to 12 hours a day for 7 days a week

  • exposed to significant temperature changes in the facility – (heat in the summer / cold in the winter)
