  • job description:
  • the role of a plant maintenance technician is to participate in the total and preventive maintenance (tpm) for all equipment and facilities.

     

    maintenance technician purpose of position

     

    the main missions of the role are to:

     

  • install, repair, and maintain all equipment and facilities
  • perform minor repairs to building fixtures, perform minor plumbing repairs, clean electrical fixtures, replace bulbs and do painting
  • analyze mechanical and operational problems on assigned equipment and make necessary corrections and running adjustments to maintain maximum production and quality
  • try out equipment after repairs, changeovers or extended downtime
  • record operational data, such as pressure readings, length of stroke, feeds and speeds for use in set-up and preventive maintenance records
  • review production schedule and, when equipment is not scheduled for production, perform scheduled maintenance
  • propose and implement continuous productivity and quality improvement actions for all facilities and process efficiency
  • give advice on technical specifications of a new equipment and alterations on existing equipment and facilities, making sure manufacturing, health, safety and environment and maintainability requirements are met
  • set up requisition for supplies, equipment and facilities
  • participate in the management of the inventory of spare parts and consumables to eliminate downtime
  • keep up to date documentation related to maintenance
  • train operators on the safe operation of production equipment
  • maintain clean and sate working environment in line with company policy
  • adhere to all work rules and procedures
  •  

    additional responsibilities include:
  • clean / paint equipment, clean / seal floors, paint lines around equipment when line is down or when assigned
  • actively participate in work teams
  • submit at least one improvement idea per month
  • other duties as in this position will have ongoing interaction and communications with the following:

  • maintenance tech supervisor  
  • job knowledge / skills / qualifications:
  • technical diploma and/or journey man card preferred
  • at least 3 years of maintenance/engineering experience within a fast-paced manufacturing environment
  • perform tasks of substantial variety/complexity which require an extensive knowledge of fabrication/processing techniques, tools, materials, machines and equipment
  • electrical wiring and mechanical skills
  • working knowledge of quality systems and health, safety and environmental skills
  • strong technical problem-solving skills
  • strong teamwork and interpersonal skills
  • satisfactory company work record, including attendance
  •  
  • ability to follow instruction verbal and written - good math, language and reading skills required
  • good communication skills demonstrated by the ability to communicate with employees of all levels
  • demonstrate the ability to work as part of a team and in a positive manner
  • commitment to the highest ethical standards and willingness to adhere to the companies code of
  • ethics and code of management.

     

    physical requirements:
  • job involves lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds, exerts 25 to 100 pounds of force occasionally and exerts 10 to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects
  • requires pushing, pulling, reaching, standing, walking, gripping and bending
  • high mental and visual effort required
  • work involves considerable bending and twisting
  • able and willing to work overtime when required – up to 12 hours a day / 7 days a week
