for nearly a century, norfolk wildlife trust has been committed to the conservation of norfolk's wildlife: a commitment expressed in land acquisition, habitat restoration, education, engagement and advocacy. the purchase of 400 acres of marsh at cley on the north norfolk coast in 1926 to be held 'in perpetuity as a bird breeding sanctuary' provided a blueprint for nature conservation which has now been replicated across the uk. the oldest wildlife trust in the country, nwt now have over 37,000 members, more than 100 corporate members, and eight thriving local members groups whilst providing conservation advice to a wide variety of organisations and individuals.

our new strategy: a wilder norfolk builds on our achievements and expertise, and plans a bold approach to nature in norfolk at a time of climate and nature crisis. this strategy embeds the lawton principles in our work, so we're looking to improve, expand and connect in our work with nature, in our work with people and for us as an organisation. our new vision is that norfolk's nature is abundant, thriving and valued. and through our work we will create more space for nature and ensure that people take action for nature.

as part of our expansion and growth, norfolk wildlife trust have now created a new opportunity - director of nature recovery. the purpose of this new role is to provide organisational leadership as part of our smt, and to lead, develop and deliver all conservation work and related activity outside our portfolio of nature reserves in order to deliver our strategy (namely landowner advisory, county wildlife sites, planning, marine, advocacy and nature based solutions). in addition the director will look to embed conservation evidence, climate change and sustainability across the trust.

the successful candidate will have excellent experience and ability in organisational leadership and team management. you will have substantial expertise in a relevant ecological and/or land management discipline with excellent understanding and technical knowledge of ecology and wildlife conservation issues and methods. with exceptional interpersonal skills, you will have demonstrable experience of stakeholder engagement and relationship building at a senior level. to be successful in this role you will be able to demonstrate a strong commitment to nature conservation and the work of norfolk wildlife trust. nwt are open both to considering candidates with extensive experience in all key areas and candidates looking to step up into a more senior role.
