• i am a 38-year-old man with asperger’s syndrome living in my own apartment, looking for someone friendly, caring and intelligent to be a companion and assist me with some general day to day tasks and getting out in to the local community.
• much of the support i will need will be to encourage me to become more independent and confident to carry out daily living skills and develop my social skills. this would include supporting me to use social networking sites.
• i will also need support to maintain my mental and physical wellbeing. i would like someone who could accompany me to go on days out, to the gym and support me to develop new skills. i enjoy swimming and i would like to find someone with an interest in sports and keeping fit.
• cooking skills are also desirable too.
• this could be a really rewarding role for someone and successful candidates would accompany me to the david lloyd health club as my mentor.

domestic -
work together to establish a training routine to become fully capable of tasks such as:
support with achieving objectives
to be able to manage budgeting and dealing with written correspondence, when required.
support with tidying and general housework and encourage me to become more independent with general household tasks.
to plan and shop for weekly needs
develop cooking skills to cook vegetarian meals when needed
personal care:
• provide support to cope with unexpected changes in routine
• to work towards establishing a structured day time and night time sleep pattern
social:
support to cope with anxiety
to make and maintain friendships via social groups and internet sites
to maintain a good relationship with parents
to participate in leisure and social activities of choice. e.g. swimming, cycling, gym, etc
to participate in playing games such as chess and snooker
to help with time management
to support me to attend appointments when required.
person specification
the successful applicant will be:
• experience of supporting adults with asperger’s or who are on the autistic spectrum is preferred but this is not as essential as being calm, patient, and willing to learn. training can be provided.
• respectful of the employer’s privacy and confidentiality
• reliable with good timekeeping
• able to both follow instructions and work on own initiative
• hygienic, tidy minded and well organised
• fit and healthy to undertake the required duties
• honest, friendly and caring
• easy going tolerant personality with good knowledge of local area.

• positive and patient attitude with excellent interpersonal skills
• able to speak and read english to a reasonable standard
• legally permitted to work in the united kingdom
• able to work at all times to high standards of health & safety
previous experience preferred but this is not as essential as a kind and common sense approach to these roles.
