family description and location

an informal british family with two children of 7 & 6 are looking for a friendly and warm housekeeper/nanny to come and be part of their family. they live in a beautiful house in an idyllic setting a short drive from cornwall’s sandy beaches. the house has large, beautiful gardens and this role would suit someone that loves country living, but you are only 3 miles away from plymouth, which is a large town with all amenities and a main line railway station. the family also have a whippet that gets along with other dogs. there are a couple of ponies and a horse that also live on the estate. they have a groom, but any equine experience would be welcome but not essential.

all general housekeeping
laundry
cleaning
shopping
school runs (the school is a 50-minute drive and the school run is shared by you and both parents)
making guests bedrooms
family cooking –3 to 4 meals a week as one of the principals also cooks - stews, pies casseroles, shepherd’s pie etc
both parents commute to london during the week and once a month both of them may be away for a night – in this instance you would have to be able to proxy parent and stay in the main house over night with the children – feed, bathe etc.

candidate requirements

it is essential that you have worked in a household as a housekeeper and have also looked after children of a similar age. you have to be a confident driver and be happy to be part of a family environment as this isn’t a formal role. the family are looking for someone friendly and cheerful.

days of work, accommodation and salary

monday – friday (may be asked to work a weekend if the family are entertaining one weekend a month with notice.
40-hour week with hours to be discussed.
separate self-contained flat away from the main house which is furnished. (not suitable for children but pets and partners will be considered)
£35-£40k dependent on experience and references.
