about this client:

felix (6), is a charming and curious little boy who enjoys playing with soft plays blocks and sensory toys, water activities and colouring. felix has a younger sister (4) who he likes to play with. felix has cerebral palsy, developmental delay and learning difficulties. he can walk independently and uses his wheelchair only when going longer distances to help manage his energy. felix is non-verbal but can express his likes and dislikes through gestures and a few words. felix has epilepsy; his seizures are controlled by daily medication but occasionally he needs emergency meds. he is a sweet and friendly boy. however, he can display behaviour that challenges in the form of biting, scratching, screaming, or pinching. you will be attentive to recognise any triggers and support in a proactive way to prevent and deescalate behaviour as they arise.

overview of role:

felix is looking for a caring and experienced support worker who will gently establish a caring bond with him and who will assist with his morning and after school routine. you will provide all aspects of his personal care, administer medication, do school drop offs and pick-ups, and implement the therapy program created by his multidisciplinary team. you will engage and encourage both children in play and assist with light domestic tasks related to the children as and when required. felix’s family haven’t had a support worker involved before, you need to be understanding, respect their boundaries and allow them to adjust to this new situation. days and hours: term time: monday to friday 6.30am – 9.30am and then 3.15pm to 8.30pm. school holidays: any 3 days 9.00am to 6.00pm. £17.00 gross per hour weekdays.
