Part time personal assistant/ carer - united kingdom, frome, somerset

this is a maternity cover (up to a year) position to take over from our current personal assistant on a rate of £11/ hour from january 2023.

we're looking for someone to come and support our adventurous, smiley and sociable 12 year old boy with additional needs.

you will support him within a welcoming, family home which is adapted to his needs. i'm usually working from home and his older sister is often here too so someone is usually available for questions :)

a little introduction:

he is a delightful 12 year old boy who has a rare genetic condition. he has severe developmental delay and although he is non-verbal, he is very good at expressing himself with facial gestures, smiles, hugs, stimming and coming to take your hand. he loves going out for adventures with his current carer and this can be anything from country walks to shopping to swimming. he's a huge fan of eating out - especially at mcdonalds. he gets a lot from all sensory experiences and gets a lot of stimulation from music, lights and being outside.

essential requirements: driving license, flexibility

desired: experience of supporting people with disabilities or a willingness to learn (his current carer had very little experience of additional needs before she came to us and is now an expert!)

hours: various hours available. after school 3.30pm-6.30pm four days a week with one longer evening every week.

one saturday or sunday every fortnight 10-6pm

additional hours in school holidays.

overnight hours may be available once you're experienced and comfortable.
