job summary

based at our distribution site in wakefield, the dca ensures financial integrity within the site by ascertaining, evaluating, documenting, and reviewing financial and merchandise flow controls. the dca acts as an on-site liaison between the finance division and tjx distribution management teams.

key responsibilities

to maintain a comprehensive knowledge of all operating procedures which relate to the flow of merchandise through the site and to fully understand the associated financial impact on the stock ledger.

work with site management to analyse processes and address issues that have a financial or operational impact, this includes working on shrink issues, review and preparing reporting, training, and understanding impact of process changes.

prepare and review weekly & monthly reports, highlighting issues in advance to the report reviewer. to identify and investigate reasons for results with focus on matters impacting shrink. carry out corrective maintenance to ensure correct accounting at the site and billing to other distribution centres and stores.

business partner with management from e-commerce, financial control, distribution services, loss prevention, merchandising, and accounts payable. to actively participate in meetings acting as an ambassador for the financial control team and to provide regular upwards feedback to line manager.

to support, review, critically analyse, and further investigate significant and unusual variances in periodic perpetual counts performed by pc management. to facilitate year-end inventory procedures ensuring accurate cut-offs and liaise with the finance manager to ensure inventory counts are performed as expected and are progressing in line with the plan.

ensure compliance with controls throughout the site including all sox controls. perform reviews/audits of kpis and recommending improvements to the current control environment. to liaise with and support external auditors with information requests on site visits.

support the growth of the site by monitoring and advising on work instructions / standard operating procedures to ensure financial integrity. assist with the european development of tjx, being flexible with approach and cover where required in our distribution estate.

key skills, knowledge & experience

proven ability of presenting to, building strong relationships, and influencing others at all levels of an organisation.

knowledge of basic audit principles and comfortable working with large data sets.

motivated self-starter who maintains a curious mindset and is able to critically analyse data to solve problems.

driven individual with experience of implementing change in a large organisation.

experience of process improvement is desirable but not essential.

knowledge of procedures and methods of operation within distribution / fulfilment centres is desirable but not essential.

excellent organisation skills able to manage day-to-day activities with unplanned requests.

confident user of excel.
