the role

this is an exciting time to join action for children, this job role is crucial in the development of the service in orkney, in partnership with orkney island council. you will be supportingchildren and young people who are impacted by substance and alcohol misuse through early intervention and flexible whole family support within the family homes, education settings and the community. working with all partner agencies within orkney (orkney health and care, education, police, health and the third sector) the post is integral in providing support to families at an early stage and the service identifies the young persons needs and responds effectively. you will be developing a service that has a child centred approach at the heart of its delivery. you will work to provide safe spaces for young people in orkney and deliver activities to them.

you will make a difference by:

working with families affected by drug and alcohol misuse.delivering specialist interventions within the school setting.conducting outreach work with young people and their families in their homes and the community such as schools, youth centres and through street work.maintaining effective relationships and channels of communication with our partners, such as the children, young people, families, colleagues and external agencies.ensuring all records are maintained and updated in line with the data protection act.you will need:

relevant hnc or experience of working with young people and families to achieve positive outcomes or youth work.excellent communication skills with the ability to build effective relationships at allgood it skills.strong time managementthe ability to work both on your own initiative but also as part of a wider team.
