as a battery engineer you will be responsible for executing the long-term development projects across a number of key areas
roles within engineering include:
cathode engineer
materials engineer
electrolyte engineer
battery engineering
the role
working closely with the wider battery development team you will be involved with the development of materials for sodium-ion batteries including characterisation and validation of materials, liaising with external suppliers and provide engineering for the scale up process
pilot scale synthesis and characterisation and of materials
optimisation of battery performance through control of the synthesis conditions.
develop commercially viable components at the pilot scale
processing, recording and tracking test data using software tools
mixing powders and solvents for electrode slurries and assisting in operating the electrode coating machine
performing other functions as required to support the r&d operation
develop characterise and help develop ip on new production processes.
experience in scale-up of production
able to produce technical reports, analyse date and present results as required.
materials synthesis and characterisation.
investigate systems faults, report, record and rectify as required.
conducting and supporting investigations and experiments
planning, setting up and undertaking controlled experiments and trials.
the person
bachelor's degree in one of: chemical engineering, chemistry, electrical engineering, materials science, mechanical engineering, or related field
in-depth understanding of current industrially relevant battery chemistries, components, materials and systems.
understanding of various battery chemistries and theoretical solid-state chemistries
experience of a laboratory materials-based environment with exposure to test equipment, measuring and recording devices.
understanding working practises of working with hazardous materials.
experience of working in a safety conscious environment and have a strong understanding of what ppe is required to work in this environment and when to use it.
an understanding of chemical and materials synthesis and characterisation.
