excellent opportunity for an experience field service calibration & installation engineer to join a well-established company based in tamworth

reports to: operations manager

package: £26-28k per annum based on experience + phone + laptop + van + private healthcare

hours: 37.5 hours per week

base: tamworth

the company is looking for an experienced field service engineer to join our ukas accredited temperature calibration laboratory. the role will require you to conduct installations, laboratory and onsite calibrations, and service and maintenance of environmental monitoring systems, with a primary focus on wireless temperature instrumentation.

the ideal candidate will demonstrate a keen attitude to provide excellent customer service, with well-written and spoken communication skills. the role can be described as the technical face of the company and must portray a knowledgeable and supportive workforce. the candidate will also have an excellent ability to solve problems, identifying causes and possible solutions quickly and efficiently. the role is predominately based in the field, with some time working in the tamworth laboratory. the candidate will be willing to work away, staying in hotels often from monday – friday. no weekend work is required.

skills required:

the ability to use common test equipment. the ability to understand common it hardware systems and networks. good understanding of pc software and common operating systems. good manual skills for electronic and electrical installation tasks. the ability to be able to work independently and unsupervised. to be able to update and maintain detailed records. this role will include working at sites throughout the uk and ireland, which may require long travel to/from sites with overnight stays.

primary duties and responsibilities:

providing front line customer on-site installation of product and software, commissioning and training. carry out pre-visit system health checks to identify issues before arrival. on-site maintenance and calibration activities to ukas standard where required. in-house maintenance and calibration activities to ukas standard where required. assisting with arranging installations and service calls, their planning and logistics. to notify management of any perceived difficulties within the process. to ensure any deficiencies in product performance or documentation is brought to the attention of the relevant personnel. performing technical site surveys at existing or potentially new customer premises. as a representative of the company to provide a professional approach in all aspects of work. attend technical meetings and reviews. to provide input into jtf wireless process and product improvements. any required training to carry out aspects of this role will be provided.

secondary duties and responsibilities:

to attend relevant courses if requested to do so, including and not limited to health & safety courses. to behave at all times in such a way as to foster a positive image of the company and colleagues. identifying possible new sales opportunities at existing or new customers and report these to the sales manager to follow up on. responsible for company vehicle whilst under your use, ensuring it is roadworthy and that recommended services be performed to keep manufacturer’s warranty intact. performing product test work as required when working at the company office. liaise with operations manager regarding customer issues proactively when working at customer or company premises. to participate actively in the company appraisal system. manage your time effectively to achieve planned diary commitments. to attend and participate in all relevant meetings. to undertake additional responsibilities as deemed appropriate.

reasonable expenses to allow efficient installation and service work to proceed at the customer premises. a company card will be provided for business expenditure.
