Hr specialist - united states, irvine

as a human resources specialist for a law firm in irvine, ca you will be responsible for the life cycle of employment; job description/justification, recruitment, interview process, onboarding, coaching, training development, discipline, termination, and offboarding. must have experience in internal investigations and conflict resolution.

essential duties and responsibilities:

  • serves as point of contact for manager or employee on questions relating to policies or procedures
  • serves as a liaison between management and employees by handling and resolving employee relations issues.
  • provides guidance to employees on issues related to fmla, std, and worker’s compensation
  • assists hiring manager in defining job requirements and drafting job descriptions
  • sources, screens, and interviews applicants for employment
  • assists with onboarding new employees and conducts new hire orientation
  • ensures secretarial and reception coverage is provided
  • creates hr related reports and provides hr metrics as needed
  • ensures compliance with federal and state laws
  • ensures recruitment, personnel, i-9 and eeo files are properly set up and maintained
  • assists with other department activities as needed, and performs additional duties and responsibilities as assigned
  • knowledge, skills, abilities required:

  • general knowledge of employment laws and practices
  • excellent interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written), professional demeanor and presentation
  • high attention to detail, outstanding organizational skills and the ability to manage time effectively
  • provide outstanding client service, meet high-quality standards for services and meet or exceed client expectations. proactive in seeking innovative ways in which to help others
  • education & experience required:

  • bachelor’s degree (preferred)
  • must have a minimum of 8-10 years of experience in administrative-related duties and responsibilities.
  • proficiency with windows-based software and microsoft word, excel and outlook required.
