adecco medical & science is assisting a top client in the healthcare industry in recruiting for a paid student intern in cambridge, ma. in this role the student will work assisting with a developing novel cancer therapeutics that directly reprogram the immune system. using proprietary technology, mrna or dna is delivered directly to immune cells to retarget or alter their behavior.
the immunology co-op will work hands-on in the lab testing reprograming immune cells by isolating primary immune cells or whole blood assays and applying multicolor flow cytometry and measuring cytokine/chemokines by different elisa based readouts. as part of a very small team, the co-op will have the opportunity to make significant contributions to the teams research and development daily. the ability to learn quickly, work on multiple assignments, and effectively document scientific data are key components of the role.
responsibilities:
plan and execute immune based assays
manage cancer cell lines in culture, including routine passaging of cells and maintenance of research cell banks
isolate primary immune cells from whole blood or leukopaks
transfect proprietary formulations in wb or isolated immune cells and evaluate reprogramming of immune cells
by 5-6 color flow cytometry. measure cytokine/chemokines level.
evaluate reprogrammed immune cells efficacy for killing tumor cells
mice handling and isolation of mice organs and performing antibody staining for flow.
communicate results to team members and participate in meetings
execute and carefully document experiments using an electronic laboratory notebook system
write and follow detailed standard operating procedures (sops)
maintain laboratory equipment as needed
perform duties according to applicable safety procedures
perform additional tasks to support research and development as the scope of the job changes as necessitated
by the growth of the company

job requirements: pursuing a bs or ms in biology, immunology, bioengineering, biochemistry or related fields. ability to work hands-on with various chemicals and laboratory equipment
pay: $23-$35.00 hourly
