tooling engineer, redditch staffed are currently recruiting for an experienced and enthusiastic individual to join a team within a well-established engineering company, on a permanent basis. the main job duties will involve- ability to quote for pressings/assemblies &/or tooling, ensuring all cost involved are encompassed. ensuring all orders are worked on and are based on all up-to-date costs being responsible for the production and planning of all prices/quotations submitted to customers reading drawings (components and tooling) must have exceptional skill sets in the following areas with 5 years minimum experience in metal stamping. hands-on experience in the troubleshooting of various types of press tooling. multi-stage progression tools, multi-slide tooling, bihler tooling & secondary operational tooling. able to critique die design concepts for both production worthiness and ease of maintainability. critique advanced product designs for manufacturability. be able to prioritize tooling improvements / repairs / cost. support apqp, dfmea, ppap activities as required. strong technical experience with low/medium tonnage metal stamping presses (mechanical and hydraulic). lengthy experience supplying into the automotive & aerospace sectors requiring multi-tasking and the ability to prioritize. ability to function within cross-functional teams, utilizing good communication skills and a hands on approach within all projects. be a strong trouble-shooter with a working knowledge of press-tools and pressings/machining practices. well versed in ms office and cad software and applications. communicate with all relevant team leaders, the commercial team, accounts, tool-room, press-shop and despatch employees, to ensure delivery/process times are met and updated on winman, if required. ensures the production team has enough time to manufacture and deliver products based on customers request/requirements & process times estimated. ensure all health and safety regulations are followed. experience working within an iso 9001, as9001 and iaft 16949 certified company. tooling engineer qualifications & experience: previous experience of quoting for stampings/pressings/assemblies and/or press tools. experience in negotiating and working with customers. prior press-shop and/or tool-room experience within a domestic/contract press-shop/tool-room preferred. external certified engineering qualifications/certificates. technical manufacturing knowledge of toolmaking and pressings/stampings (small to medium sized pressings supplied in low, medium and/or high volumes). highly organised within the workplace. production and planning skills required. ability to manage time and workload effectively. excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. possess good leadership skills. ability to work in a team environment. strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail. ability to engage and motivate others. working hours- basic hours 37.5 hrs per week (monday to thursdays inclusive), occasional requirement to work on a friday morning, to oversee overtime working on the shop-floor. salary - gbp30,000 to gbp35,000 per annum, subject to experience. employment type- permanent if you are interested in this position, or would like more information, please send an up to date cv over to staffed
