company client partnered with a leading financial services organisation looking to hire a data architect to assist with a modernisation programme. this is a permanent hire, based in either london or birmingham (hybrid working).

job summary:

the business data reflects the complexity of the organisation, and data architecture is in need of modernisation and rationalisation. they are looking for a talented data architect to help meet these challenges.

they need someone who's a data expert and passionate about data. able influence stakeholders to meet common goals and be integral to the transformation into a digital company in order to meet the businesses ambitious growth plans.

key responsibilities:

* defining current data state in business terms, corporate business data model, data quality, data lineage, data glossary and data dictionary.

* proposing a target state for business data architecture that enables our strategic outcomes and is deliverable with realistic business and technology transformation.

* collaborate with current architecture community to map current and target data view onto the rest of the architecture to shape transition to target and unlock data value early.

* strengthening and implementing data standards across the business to help ensure, growth, efficiency, digitisation and new opportunity strategies.

knowledge & experience:

* data modelling, data lineage, data ownership and stewardship

* driving data quality improvement

* use of data dictionaries and glossaries to enable common data conversations and standards

* design and implementation of those data standards

* collaboration with technologists to realise business data goals

* extensive knowledge of and experience with rdbms architectures

* ability to synthesise complex data problems into logical models and physical solutions

* knowledge of and experience with graph and event streaming architectures desirable but not essential - we wish to upskill / train our architects in these emerging areas.

* familiarity with information management practices

* knowledge of business re-engineering principles and processes,

* strong modelling capability with the ability to clearly represent complex ideas graphically,

* familiar with a variety of modelling approaches, tools and model repositories,

* ability to translate complex domain specific concepts into knowledge that can be understood and consumed across domains.
