an excellent opportunity for an experienced design engineer to join a well-established company based in bristol.

about the company:

they are an award-winning bristol-based remote camera dolly & stabiliser manufacturer. set up in 2014, pioneering robotic control and stabilisation of cameras to the film and tv industry. the growing team consists of experienced film makers, technicians, engineers and remote vehicle fanatics.

they have an ambitious roadmap of future products; backed by some incredible new technology that continues to elevate the company within the tv and film industry, and now helps to establish their systems in entirely new markets. they have grown a fantastic team to support their progress, but they need to expand to fulfil their ambitions and deliver their exciting product plans.

about the role:

reporting directly to the design manager and cto, you will be responsible for the design, development and planning of the mechanical design aspects of their projects. taking projects from initial concept to full production and latterly customer support, you will ensure your projects are planned and delivered to meet timescales, liaising with all internal departments across r&d, procurement and production teams to provide end to end support for all products.

candidate requirements:

educated to degree level or equivalent in product design, mechanical engineering or similar. experienced in designing parts for manufacture across a number of materials and processes, including but not limited to cnc machining (3&5 axis), turning, sheet metal, injection moulding and additive manufacturing. experience of owning and driving development of complex parts and assemblies. solidworks experience (or high competency in other software and willing to transfer) ability to quickly iterate, develop and finalise design schemes to tight deadlines. take ownership of projects, liaising with stakeholders and cross-team members to drive decision making and project development. creating accurate version controlled 3d and 2d drawing data for manufacturing. liaison with uk and overseas suppliers regarding technical specs and manufacturing support. proven track record of delivering r&d projects to deadlines. minimum 3 years’ experience in a product development role. any experience in product development for tv, film and camera stabilisation would be a bonus.

this is a full-time position working 37.5 hours per week and in return the company is offering a competitive salary of £30,000 - £40,000 per annum, depending on experience.
