job description: this is an exciting opportunity to join nrw s regulatory approaches team, specialising in biodiversity regulation.

the wlbm regulatory approaches team support operations and permitting staff in their duty as a regulator. by working closely with our policy teams, and considering evidence from other parts of nrw, we develop tools and processes to aid regulatory delivery.

essential to the role is developing position statements and drafting guidance as well as designing and delivering training. it also involves working with other external organisations and regulators to allow join up where appropriate.

we are recruiting to a lead specialist advisor to work on the development and continuous improvement of nrw s regulatory activities. the successful candidate will work closely with both the policy and operations teams to improve our regulatory capabilities.

we are looking for a confident individual with experience of biodiversity regulation, project management and process improvement, who has the ability to work under pressure, juggle multiple priorities and work at pace.

knowledge and experience of the following:

1. knowledge of welsh, uk and eu legislation related to your specific sector(s); welsh, uk government policy drivers in your specific sector(s).

2. experience in informing and influencing government departments/regulators, preferably on environmental issues.

3. extensive experience in forming and maintaining close links with internal and external partners/stakeholders to deliver the outcomes of both a specific function/project/team and the wider organisation.

4. experience of understanding and applying regulatory activities.

5. be able to work at pace and have a track record of delivery.

6. being innovative and demonstrating drive to achieve targets

7. you will be expected to keep up to date with changing regulatory policy and proposed changes to legislation via membership of a relevant professional body or other equivalent means.
