Part-time private personal care assistant (enfield town) - united kingdom, enfield, london

the post-holder will provide personal, domestic and social care to a retired, disabled person to support their ability to live at home and independently in the community. be respectful and exercise patience, always act with due care, attention, and safety. learn and understand specific medical, mobility support needs, communication abilities and follow daily living guidance plan. be accountable for the personal health, safety, and well-being of the individual and living their environment.

the postholder will be an excellent communicator, performing daily living tasks unsupervised and as part of a team with family members and other support assistants. be flexible and available to cover additional shifts, sleep-in (where appropriate) and work public holidays.

minimum hours: 24 per week. shift pattern: fri - sun (0900 - 1430 & 1830 - 2200).

no on-site parking.

undertake a full criminal records check (dbs) and attend training as appropriate.

principal duties

personal care - washing/dressing, incontinence care, prepare/serve meals and fluids, administer vitamins and/or prescribed medication.
domestic care – sanitise equipment, maintain a hygienic living environment (cleaning/dusting, laundry) pick up shopping and/or prescriptions as appropriate.
social care – provide companionship, promote and stimulate good mental wellbeing. arrange medical appointments, social visits with friends and take on local walks as appropriate.
reporting – alert, report and act as directed in emergency situations, complete daily care activity and medication administration reports. re-order and replenish personal care supplies/products as directed.
performing manual handling tasks and utilising mobility equipment (e.g., wheelchairs, hoists, slide-sheets etc) as required.
any other duties related to and within the scope of personal, domestic and social care responsibilities.

person specification

essential criteria:

fluent in english
excellent written and verbal communication skills
reliable, flexible, trustworthy and good initiative
proven ability to follow direction, instructions and adapt well to change
proven ability to work unsupervised and as part of a team
excellent multi-tasking and organisational skills

desirable criteria:

first aid qualification
previous experience working in a care setting or with vulnerable adults
full valid uk driving licence
lives in enfield or surrounding area

pay

payment will be by bank transfer 4-weekly. tax and national insurance, where applicable, will be deducted from this sum before payment is made. a double rate of pay will be paid for bank holidays worked.

annual leave

entitled to 5.6 weeks (pro rata) paid holiday each full year worked. if employment commences or terminates part way through the holiday year your entitlement to holidays during that year will be assessed on a pro rata basis and deductions from your final salary on termination of employment will be made in respect of holidays taken in excess of entitlement. holidays must be taken at times convenient to the client and all requests for annual leave must be made at least one month before the date the leave is required. holiday entitlement unused at the end of the holiday year cannot be carried over into the next holiday year.

pensions

entitlement to opt-in to employee pension scheme, subject to terms and conditions. information will be provided on appointment.
