location - the company office in stevenage or working from home where appropriate. a home-based employee will be required to work from the office on request, for example to attend team or customer meetings.

this exciting company is currently seeking a devops engineer to join the technical services team and take responsibility for building, supporting, and maintaining new and existing cloud-hosted services for their customers, based primarily on microsoft azure.

if you have experience in devops or cloud hosting, this is an exciting opportunity for you to apply your knowledge to implement new best practices for delivering their technology to its customers in government, emergency services, housing and many other industry sectors. you will be part of a team of technical experts reporting to the technical services manager, where you will have the opportunity to work with a wide range of technologies including company software, related third party software and cloud platforms.

key responsibilities:

- participate in all aspects of the development lifecycle for cloud-hosted services

- deploy and optimise company software and services hosted primarily in microsoft azure for new and existing customers

- develop and maintain processes to upgrade live production cloud-hosted services

- work closely with a variety of technical teams to lead the development of automated processes for deploying company services to end users

- ensure cloud platform performance, uptime, scaling and system monitoring for company cloud-hosted services

- lead the company technical support team response to incidents relating to cloud-hosted services

about you:

- a bsc in computer science or relevant related degree/experience

- proven experience in automating the packaging and deployment of software and services in the cloud

- development experience with containers and kubernetes

- cloud automation experience with terraform

- experience of most of the following (or similar/related): powershell; azure cli; docker; microsoft windows server; linux; git

- practical experience administrating cloud environments using microsoft azure

- experience managing either microsoft sql server or postgresql databases is desirable (on premise or in the cloud)

- experience in system and log monitoring tools

- candidates should be self-assured, enjoy problem solving, work well in a team and be self motivated
