an excellent opportunity for an experienced health & safety / compliance manager to join a well-established company based in luton, bedfordshire.

about the company:

they are the uk’s leading manufacturer of mobile welfare and site cabins which has been established for over 50 years and are a leading provider of site welfare and portable cabins at the forefront of sustainable innovation within the sector.

about the role:

reporting to the operations manager, the successful candidate will have overall responsibility for health and safety across the site, developing current processes, procedures and health and safety initiatives.

to succeed in this role, you will be someone who likes to be hands-on, engaging with the workforce and driving forward a positive health and safety culture.

conduct compliance audits and workplace inspections.
liaise with the operations director and assist with compliance when necessary.
carry out accident and near miss investigations and submit r.i.d.d.o.r documentation.
prepare risk assessments & good practice guides
compile statistics on accidents and injuries, analyse their causes and make recommendations to management accordingly.
deliver health & safety training and employee & contractor inductions.
chair the site h&s meetings.
maintain the company h&s database.
produce hse and kpi reporting statistics.
liaise with enforcement agencies, auditors, and local authorities.
keep up to date with impending changes to legislation and best practice
keep regular documentation relating to maintenance, ppe, coshh registers, puwer and loler legislation.

candidate requirements:

applicants must have nebosh/iosh qualifications and ideally hold membership of a relevant professional body.

experience with the following standards will also be highly valued:

iso45001 occupational safety & health management systems (originally ohsas18001). iso14001:2015 environmental management systems.

in return the company is offering a competitive salary ranging between £35,000 and £45,000 per annum, depending on experience.
