prepare examination rooms and sterilizing equipment
room patients, obtain health history, check vital signs, and perform ekg’s
administer injections and collect specimen
document patient care using nextgen electronic medical record software
schedule appointments, complete prior authorizations, process medication refills, handle referrals, answer calls and complete paperwork
assist physicians and nurse practitioners with minor, in-office procedures
qualifications for the medical assistant:
hs diploma or ged
medical assistant diploma and certified
direct experience with clinical intake, laboratory specimen collection, perform ekg testing, application of orthopedic devices, such as preformed splints, perform basic wound care, review of basic instructions such as use of patient assistive devices.
knowledge of computerized information systems (emr) used in clinical management settings
