an excellent opportunity for an experienced embedded software engineer to join a well-established company based in bristol.

they are an award-winning bristol-based remote camera dolly & stabiliser manufacturer. set up in 2014, pioneering robotic control and stabilisation of cameras to the film and tv industry. the growing team consists of experienced film makers, technicians, engineers and remote vehicle fanatics.

they have an ambitious roadmap of future products; backed by some incredible new technology that continues to elevate the company within the tv and film industry, and now helps to establish their systems in entirely new markets. they have grown a fantastic team to support their progress, but they need to expand to fulfil their ambitions and deliver their exciting product plans.

about the role:

the candidate will be responsible for the design and development of control system software and firmware within their products, and will immediately be part of a team that develops game-changing new equipment used in big budget feature films, high end broadcast tv and many other filming related scenarios.

the control systems being designed typically involve remote operation via rf link, high precision and high-speed control of motors and actuators and ui development. the products are built on a mixture of fpga and microprocessors via embedded software that is developed entirely in house, and new up-coming developments that include computer-based control apps (windows/osx).

useful areas of interest/experience include: remote electric vehicles, robotics, control systems, user interface design and rf based remote controlled systems. an interest in product development for tv and film would also be a benefit, but not an expectation.

there is an exciting roadmap of new products to develop, and the immediate need for an adaptable, enthusiastic and highly skilled engineer to join the team.

candidate requirements:

degree qualification in a relevant engineering or science-related discipline. program and debug on dual core processors with c/c++ & rtos/baremetal. designing hardware on xilinx fpga with verilog/ vitis hls. programming c++, python, javascript on computer platforms (mac and pc). knowledge of embedded protocols like uart, rs485, usb, can bus, i2c & ethernet (ip) based systems. software/hardware debugging skills for problem solving in the dual core systems. proven track record of delivering r&d projects to deadlines. take ownership of projects, liaising with stakeholders and cross-team members to drive decision making and project development. experience of developing products from concept to production and post-launch customer support and updates.

responsibilities:

reporting to the r&d team leaders, you will be responsible for the design and development of embedded software/firmware. taking projects from initial concept to full production and latterly customer support, you will co-ordinate with our existing team of software, mechatronic and electronics engineers to ensure your projects are delivered to meet our timescales, liaising with all internal departments to provide end to end support for all products

full time (37.5hrs) salary dependent on experience; £30,000 - £35,000 depending on the applicant located at our bristol office (bs37).
