job summary: the continuous improvement engineer will be responsible in leading site activities that contribute towards improving manufacturing efficiencies by utilizing lean manufacturing & continuous improvement techniques. the continuous improvement engineer is responsible for effectively coordinating with key members of the operations, engineering, and maintenance teams to identify continuous improvement opportunities designed to improve asset utilization, reduce unplanned downtime, improve shop floor quality/reduce non-conformances, enhance environmental and safety performance, and schedule enhancements to optimize production efficiencies. this position will support multiple manufacturing sites.

 

 

quality engineering responsibilities:

 

 

  • assists in the development and maintenance of a robust continuous improvement system using lean manufacturing, 5s and overall knowledge of the quality function.
  •  

  • prepares monthly reports measuring and analyzing labor efficiency, ppm, cost of quality and corrective action frequency and resolution time-frame.
  •  

  • leads corrective action and/or containment response ensuring root cause identification and elimination.
  •  

  • assists with both internal and external quality audits.
  •  

  • demonstrate ability managing projects that continuously improve quality, cost, delivery and safety metrics.
  • develop, evaluate, improve and document manufacturing processes, including process control techniques and procedures in a manufacturing environment.
  • motivate employees for a3 thinking and coach through pdca cycles.
  • direct and coordinate compliance with standards such as iso 9001 and other applicable customer requirements.
  • set up the product/process that meet takt time and help to reduce the floor inventory and improve on-time delivery.
  • implement kanban pull system for purchase parts and coordinate erp system to reflect accurate supplier data and target inventory.
  • developed/tracked metrics measuring productivity of departments and continuously look for opportunities to remove waste.

    minimum job requirements:

    education: bachelor’s degree in operations management, engineering and/or related field. will consider continuous improvement experience in lieu of degree.

     

    experience: 5 + years in continuous improvement and quality systems implementation within a manufacturing environment

     

     

    specialized knowledge, licenses, etc: knowledge of apqp and ppap preferred. knowledge of iso/ts 16949 preferred.

    six sigma black belt/green belt required.
