Paving supervisor - united states, jamestown (new york)

our client, a leader in transportation infrastructure construction and maintenance is currently searching for a paving supervisor.  this is a direct hire role with great benefits that include medical, dental, fsa, life insurance, std, ltd, 401k, company car and many more.

main responsibilities

  • accountable for all resource management and costs  
  • must be able to read, interpret and understand all contract documents, bid documents, job specifications, plans, and p.o.’s as applied to the project 
  • assist estimator(s) in the pricing of new items and or change orders 
  • set up staging areas, field offices and dump sites as applicable 
  • manages paving personnel to ensure efficient operations  
  • schedule field personnel, subcontractors, material suppliers and coordinate with public utilities 
  • oversees equipment preventative program, ensuring all equipment meets or exceeds dot standards  
  • assesses and analyzes departmental budgets to find ways to minimize expenses and optimize profits  
  • identifies potential problems and points of friction and working to find solutions in order to maximize efficiency and revenue  
  • identifies opportunities to expand or shift course in order to take advantage of changes in the market  
  • ensures universal policies and procedures are accepted and maintained  
  • ensure all legal and regulatory documents are filed and monitor compliance with laws and regulations  
  • education

  • four (4) year degree preferred. (engineering, construction management, paving) 
  • ten (10+) years construction experience and three (3) years supervisory experience 
  • experience in scheduling, ordering, quality control, and paving? 
  • strong mathematical skills required 
  • skills

  • monitors employee activities and provides guidance where needed  
  • ensure job expectations are communicated clearly  
  • encourages a positive work environment and culture for all employees  
  • collaborates with the hr manager on training needs  
  • deals with escalated customer complaints  
  • handles escalated employee performance issues  
  • physical requirements

  • ability to push, carry, and lift 75 pounds or more
  • must be able to stand for hours
  • ability to kneel, climb, bend, stoop, and crawl
  • must be able to pass a drug test and physical fitness test
