do you have a formal qualification in communications or pr - either first degree or professional qualifications? have you previous, demonstrable experience in a communications role, focused on external relations and stakeholder engagement? do you have excellent interpersonal skills - ability to build strong working relationships quickly with internal and external stakeholders? ukaea is leading the drive to put fusion energy on the grid, to give the world a new form of long-term, sustainable low-carbon electricity. at their sites at culham, oxfordshire and rotherham, south yorkshire, they have a rapidly growing workforce to fulfil their expanding programme of research, focused on delivering the uk's first fusion prototype power plant by 2040. there has never been a more exciting time to join ukaea. we are growing rapidly as an organisation. in this role you'll become a key member of the communications team, which is integrated, hard-working, warm, welcoming, and growing! job purpose to deliver stakeholder engagement and external communications for step, a ukaea programme that will demonstrate the ability to generate net electricity from fusion. taking the existing communications strategy as a starting point, you will coordinate and manage an accelerated schedule of stakeholder interactions to build relationships and grow the external profile of the step programme with both stakeholders and the media. this role will report to the step communications manager, working closely with the ukaea heads of stakeholder engagement and external communications, to ensure stakeholder engagement and messaging is aligned and consistent to achieve the goals both of step and the broader organisation. taking a lead from the step communications manager, this role will work closely with the step programme executive and leadership team to ensure the step story is shared with the programme's key stakeholders in the most effective way, and that the activity is effectively measured. accountabilities coordinate and deliver plans to ensure effective relationships are built with a wide range of stakeholders, building a consensus of support for the step programme manage the step stakeholder map and the stakeholder relationship management system coordinate and deliver plans to raise the profile of the step programme across the spectrum of media, including national, regional and local, specialist and technical, working closely with the ukaea media team lead regular reviews of key messages and q&a documents, engaging with internal stakeholders to ensure consistency of message across the team develop and deliver an accelerated schedule of supplier engagement, focused on raising the profile of the step programme, supporting the internal supply chain and procurement team work with step communications manager and the broader ukaea communications and design teams to produce high quality video, printed and digital materials, appropriate for the target audience work closely with the step communications manager, the ukaea head of stakeholder engagement and the broader ukaea communications team to deliver a coordinated approach to stakeholder engagement and media relations advise and liaise with members of step programme executive on matters of stakeholder engagement and media relations, including providing briefings for team members ahead of interviews and meetings essential experience formal qualification in communications or pr - either first degree or professional qualifications previous, demonstrable experience in a communications role, focused on external relations and stakeholder engagement highly it literate, fluent in microsoft office 365 excellent writing skills excellent interpersonal skills - ability to build strong working relationships quickly with internal and external stakeholders good planning and organisational skills, able to juggle multiple projects simultaneously ability to prioritise work and work under pressure be able to work autonomously, with initiative and minimum supervision desirable experience previous experience working in a matrix environment previous experience of sharepoint demonstrable experience of working in a fast-paced environment such as an infrastructure programme demonstrable experience of working in a new and developing organisation rullion celebrates and supports diversity and is committed to ensuring equal opportunities for both employees and applicants
