senior data scientist x5 positions (financial services)

lloyds banking group

bristol (hybrid working pattern, 2 days per week in office & rest from home)

salary & benefits: gbp48,784 to gbp69,411 base salary depending on location and experience.

additional package: annual personal bonus, 15% employer pension contribution (when you put in 6%), 4% flexible cash allowance, private medical insurance, 30 days holiday plus bank holidays.

we're embarking on the next big recruitment drive to find at least fifteen versatile data scientists! we have successfully grown our data science capability over the last 4 years and are now growing to take on more projects! we're looking for a range of people, mostly full time roles with some part time, and condensed hours.

what exactly does a data scientist do at lloyds?

working in multidisciplinary team, you'll often start by looking at a business problem statement and then start experimenting with different modelling approaches to developing industrialised applications powered by machine learning.

common tasks you'll focus on could include;

contributing towards potential solutions to a range of business problems using data science.

developing experimental models and machine learning applications in python alongside our ml data engineers (who build the data pipelines and ensure quality).

deliver production machine learning models which can support a broad range of bank wide initiatives.

complex statistical analysis.

mentoring more junior colleagues.

your models will have a material impact on the lives of up to 30m+ customers across the whole of the uk, we really are trying to make a difference and support our country.

where does the role sit?

we're the chief data & analytics office within lloyds banking group!

we support all areas of the bank so products you work on could apply to any area of financial services and we've got one of the largest data sets available in fs for you to work with.

we take ideas from the concept stage and work with our customers to understand how data science and machine learning can be applied. you'll work on a wide range of exciting projects with no shortage of work!

what do we need to see from your application?

we're keen to see diverse and varied applications, however as these are senior data scientist positions we'll need evidence of the following as a minimum to be considered for interview;

experience working as a mid to senior level data scientist in a commercial environment. please do not apply if you don't have industry experience over a number of years for this level of role.

a strong commercially applied knowledge of statistical modelling and/or machine learning techniques is required such as: regression, clustering, attribution (econometrics / mmm), decision trees and gradient boosting machines (random forest, xgboost, lgbm) and significance testing.

an intermediate to high level of skill programming using python is required including how to write modular pythonic code, familiarity with the core python data structures and fluency with pandas, scikit-learn, matplotlib.

intermediate-advanced level of skill using sql.

the ability to present the takeaways from these techniques in a clear, visual manner to support senior business partner's decision making is key to the success of our projects
