Pub manager (foh) - united kingdom, bristol city centre, bristol
our incredible bar manager must move back down under and we are looking for someone to join the team as soon as possible for a healthy handover.
about us
the hope & anchor is a vibrant pub with a strong base of students and a core of local residents. we’ve spent the last year completely transforming the pub with the goal of being ‘bristol’s best pub for everyone’ and would like to continue on that (already successful) pathway. along with our sister pub, volunteer tavern, we are a proud living wage pub which means no staff member is paid below the real living wage (https://www.livingwage.org.uk/). we have a large heated garden which stays busy in the winter and run regular events such as quizzes. our bar features fantastic local and independent brewers on both cask and keg which are looked after by our stock coordinator.
what sort of person we’re looking for

any others that may be necessary
you will be working alongside our stock coordinator whose responsibility includes ordering stock and cellar management, who has a great knowledge of craft beer and pub workings. as such, your role will not have these responsibilities as a focus but may require you to be on site to receive deliveries and offer your opinion on decisions that will benefit the business as you will be working as a team to continue our goal of becoming bristol’s best pub for everyone.
we believe that hard skills can be taught but values and principles are from the core. as such, we put more weight to who you are than what you know. the current team is young, vibrant and keen to learn more about the hospitality industry. the ideal candidate will likely have at least two years experience in a cafe, pub or restaurant and at least one year experience managing pubs.
it is important to know that the pub is currently on the market and some interested parties have identified themselves. as with all roles, your job will be protected under tupe regulations and we advise that you have a good understanding of your rights as shown here (https://www.acas.org.uk/tupe).
