Handyman - united kingdom, glasgow

an opportunity has arisen for a handyman to cover 2 customer buildings in scotland - glasgow (g2) & edinburgh (eh3). the role is to provide vital assistance in the general day to day running of the two office facilities with regards to maintenance of the building and grounds. report faults for escalation if necessary. the successful candidate will have a "can do" attitude, responding to ad hoc building fabric or handyman tasks and support the client site teams. 3 month contract initially to cover long term sick leave. may/may not be extended. main responsibilities of the handyman: carry out minor repairs such as replacing light bulbs/lamps and monitoring stock levels, repairing broken window fittings, unblocking sinks, toilet seat repairs, door repairs, monitoring the heating when necessary. carry out maintenance tasks on the ppm system. update tasks with relevant documents. e.g. water hygiene temperature monitoring each month. liaise with contractors to ensure access permit compliance. small building fabric repairs and redecoration. maintaining the premises and grounds ensuring they are ready for staff to occupy. other duties may include: - arranging chairs and tables for meetings. to assist the office manager with local building improvements and accommodation changes. ad hoc cleaning if required. distribution of bulk stationery deliveries to the mail/stationery room if necessary. assist and escort utility inspectors into the plant room. hand deliveries or special collections of items from local clients, various messenger service. specific floor walks for fault finding and maintenance requirements. ideal candidate profile: basic knowledge required fire safety regulations and health and safety regulations. basic maintenance & engineering knowledge, i.e. current legislation. experience in the following would be an advantage: bms controls, pump types, heating ventilation air conditioning, ahu, basic plumbing and handyman skills responsible, honest and reliable. have a good understanding of building construction and utilities ability to prioritise own workload, meet deadlines and expectations and understand priorities. flexible and enjoy a varied routine as each day can be rarely planned. good communication and people skills. uk driving license & vehicle to be able to commute to each site (or easy access to train routes to glasgow & edinburgh city centres). travel expenses will be covered. additional information: long term illness cover - initial 3 month contract monday to friday. core hours 8am-5pm with one hour's unpaid lunch break (40 hours per week) pay rate: gbp15 per hour paye plus holiday pay in addition covering two buildings, one in glasgow and one in edinburgh candidates must already hold the right to live and work in the uk at the time of application. if you are interested in applying for this position and you meet the requirements, please apply immediately. due to the number of applications we receive, it's not always possible to contact unsuccessful applicants. unless you hear from us within 14 days of your application, please assume that you have been unsuccessful on this occasion.
