Laboratory manager- shelton, wa - united states, longview (washington)

we are seeking a laboratory manager to join our hospital team in the shelton, wa area! you will be responsible for the daily operation of the laboratory, adherence to standards required for continued licensure and accreditation, as well as ensuring a safe work environment.  this person would establish policies and procedures to provide administrative direction, development and would maintain a positive working environment.

responsibilities:

  • provides medical laboratory diagnostic and therapeutic information, products, and services by establishing specimen preparation procedures and developing and implementing analytical procedures.
  • maintains medical laboratory equipment performance by establishing quality developing operations, quality, and troubleshooting procedures; ensuring staff certifying instrument performance; arranging equipment replacement, service, and repair.
  • maintains medical laboratory productivity by monitoring workload of functional areas;   identifying peak and slack periods; and making operational or staffing adjustments as indicated.
  • maintains medical laboratory information system by identifying information needs problems, recommending improvements and establishing priorities.
  • builds and maintains effective working relationships. advises and consults with physicians, nurses, and other hospital personnel. serves as a liaison across disciplines.
  • actively supports a positive workplace culture. monitors the work performance of staff and provides timely feedback and performance management. maintains effective employee and labor relations practices.
  • qualifications:

  • bachelor’s degree in medical technology program with completion of a one year internship in a clinical laboratory setting, or a bachelor’s degree in a related science field with two years of experience in a clinical laboratory setting.
  • five years of experience in a clinical laboratory setting, including 1-2 years in a supervisory or management capacity.
  • medical technologist (ascp), certified laboratory scientist (nca), or equivalent.
