the bdm is a senior manager within the business who works closely with the gm and business development team. a bdm's job is to forge strong relationships with the businesses and local communities in which they work and is responsible to ensure the productivity of sales are maximised.
a proactive approach is required to ensure that new guests are continually fed into the business. the bdm should have a good understanding of the local community and the various target audiences to ensure they are driving venue sales. they will be required to forge strong relationships with corporates, residential, hotels and much more.
measurement and improvement of the key marketing indicators (kmis) for the venue are an essential part of the bdm's role. as well as forging strong relationships, the bdm role encompasses a lot more aspects such as marketing, pr, social media, enquiry and bookings management, events and much more.
we want candidates that are passionate about the hospitality industry who thrive in a sales environment. you need to be a great communicator, driven and confident. you will be required to attend meetings, events and network. we encourage all bdm's to be as creative and imaginative as they can, really showcasing their personalities in their venues. you should be able to generate ideas and events that will introduce new guests to our business.
