job role: communications assistant
the communications assistant will be responsible to the communications manager and will support the communications department in the delivery of a high-quality communications service to the agency. the postholder will provide a high level of administrative support to assist the communications team with the implementation of communication strategies and campaigns for projects which reflect the organisation's corporate objectives.
the postholder will be responsible for the co-ordination of their workload to meet the demands of the communications department and for ensuring deadlines are met.
the postholder will maintain the highest level of confidentiality in relation to sensitive or complex issues and deal with media contacts in an appropriate and timely fashion.
salary: gbp11.53 (monday to friday)
location: belfast city centre
what the role entails:
responsible for the organisation and provision of comprehensive and confidential administrative duties to support the communications department.
take appropriate action upon receipt of e-mails, telephone calls and other enquiries to the communications department, ensuring necessary follow up action is taken.
provide routine advice and information to pha staff on all communications issues.
maintain effective working relationships with key stakeholders both internal and external to the pha, maintaining appropriate communication networks and presenting a professional image appropriate to the communications department.
develop and manage office systems to ensure the effective administration of the communications department including, for example, the maintenance of a photographic library, media databases, etc.
assist with the co-ordination of information and responses to enquiries, ensuring these are dealt with in a timely manner.
assist in the preparation and scheduling of social media posts, news releases and other documents for approval by the appropriate manager.
essential criteria:
gcse maths and gcse english language (grade a-c) or equivalent to demonstrate literacy and numeracy or higher qualification and 2x a-levels or equivalent qualification or higher qualification and have at least 18 months' relevant experience
or
have a minimum of 3 years' relevant experience .
relevant experience is defined as having worked in a press office/ communications team, involving liaising with internal and external stakeholders.
